Italian courses

The various types of courses offered by theThe PLIDA Campaign " Dante Alighieri" Society's Commitee of Trieste are able to satisfied every kind of need.
The lessons, based on modern didactic approaches and all placed in Italian language, are supported not only by the traditional texts but also by didactic material prepared ad hoc by the teachers.
Our teachers, all graduated and qualified, follow the students with ability and solicitude. Our language courses are attended with success by student coming from all the sides of the world.

The PLIDA Certifificate
The PLIDA (Progetto Lingua Italiana Dante Alighieri) certificate is an official diploma issued by the Società Dante Alighieri under an agreement with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The PLIDA certificate attests proficiency in Italian as a foreign language on the basis of a 6-level scale: from level A1, the most elementary, documenting the ability to use Italian in everyday situations, to level C2, the most qualified, guaranteeing an expertise comparable to that of an educated mother-tongue speaker, and which can be used in all professional contexts.

Since 2011, the Committee of the Dante Alighieri Society of Trieste is a Center PLIDA Certification. It’s possible to take the exams at our office to get the PLIDA Certificate attesting the level of knowledge of Italian to foreigners.

With the new directives of the Ministry of the Interior, this certification shall be used for license eligibility valid for a residence permit for foreigners in Italy.

The six PLIDA levels correspond to the six levels of language proficiency established by the Council of Europe in the Common European Framework for Languages:
Beginning Italian
PLIDA A1 - A1 C.E.F. (Contact level)
PLIDA A2 - A2 C.E.F. (Survival level)
Fundamental Italian
PLIDA B1 - B1 C.E.F. (Threshold level)
PLIDA B2 - B2 C.E.F. (Progress level)
Professional Italian

PLIDA C1 - C1 C.E.F. (Effectiveness level)
PLIDA C2 - C2 C.E.F. (Mastery level)

Annual courses
Ideal for who can dedicate more time to the study of Italian and has the opportunity to follow also the initiatives promoted by the Committee the annual courses are the best way to prepare the candidate to take exams PLIDA.
These courses last throughout six month for a total amount of fifty hours.
Usually they take place from October to April in Trieste where the Committee has his premises and request an engagement for two hours a week.
The groups are formed by a minimum of five students to a maximum of ten.

Corsi intensiviIntensive courses
These courses are conceived to develop aimed teaching programs.
They take place in Trieste at the Committee's premises.
They're organized also for mini-groups of two-three students.
On the needs of the subscribers they can be activate in every moment and have a changeable length.

Scholarship holders's courses
These courses are addressed to the winners of the "Dante Alighieri" Society's Head Office's scholarship, that is to say particularly deserving students who want to improve their knowledge of Italian language very quickly.
The didactic package provides some lessons in group and a higher number of individual lessons.
They also take place in Trieste at the Committee's premises.

Cultural-language seminars
The seminars will take place usually in July.
They're held in Grado (see the map), a pleasant resort from the High Adriatic, rich in story and art, nearness of Trieste.
They're divided in three levels: Beginner- Intermediate- Advanced.
Frequency is daily and the lessons timetable (from 9.00 a.m. to 13.00 p.m.) included both a linguistics and a grammatical part and a conversation one.
They're addressed to those groups coming from abroad who wish not only to study Italian, but also to discover the Friuli - Venezia Giulia's art and natural treasures.
Every year, on the occasion of the seminars, guided tours and trips to the most suggestive Region's places are organized.

Individual lessons
All through the year is, of course, possible to take individual lessons, based on a personal way of study.
These kind of lessons are conceived to satisfied personal needs in terms of time and preparation of the single student, so that to reach maximum results in less time.

On demand, Trieste's Committee also set up Italian literature, art history, opera's books reading courses.
